CIET's package of methods has been in use in Uganda since 1994, when surveys supported by UNICEF were carried out in several districts in the South West of the country. A number of cycles has been undertaken since then, focussing on different important areas of child and family welfare, such as immunisation, diarrhoea, water and sanitation, nutrition, and education. The process has trained teams of people at district level in data collection and interpretation of findings. After the first three cycles, the scale of the process was broadened, with sites selected to represent different regions of the country.
Subsequently, two more specific surveys were undertaken, building on the existing systems and teams in key districts across the country:
1. Service Delivery Surveys on Agriculture and Health
2. 1998 National Integrity Survey
