Eastern Newfoundland: youth risk and resilience, 1998
Eastern Newfoundland: youth risk and resilience, 1998
This innovative fact-finding and action LoPHID project aimed to develop the local public health infrastructure for dialogue with young people and their support systems (parents, siblings, schools, local opinion makers and peers) about youth health risks and resilience. This first cycle in Eastern Region addresses the base upon which young people weigh up and respond to risk. A baseline on perceptions of youth risks and their safe practices regarding use of alcohol, tobacco and drugs, sexual abuse, unprotected sex and vandalism was produced. Also documented and discussed were sources of information on these risks, setting the stage for a series of programme interventions.
