Afghanistan: Health, Literacy, Sanitation, Nutrition and Education, 1997
In early 1997 a multiple indicator cluster survey was carried out in five regions of Afghanistan, working on all sides of the conflict raging there. Data were gathered from 144 sites on basic demographics, infectious diseases, immunization, literacy, water and sanitation, nutrition (using anthropometry), food security, agricultural production, education, infant mortality and breastfeeding. These data were used by UNICEF in the design of its reconstruction programme.
