Nigeria: Health Information and Planning System - Second Evidence Cycle

In 2011 a detailed design phase involved state and local government authority (LGA) health departments.

MUAC Cross River.

In mid 2011, we trained field teams, including government nominees, in Nigeria’s Bauchi and Cross River states, and in focus LGAs within these states. They visited households in representative communities in the states and focus LGAs and collected information from over 25,000 women aged 15-49 and about children aged 0-36 months, including their experience of childhood illnesses and their immunisation history, as well as measuring mid upper arm circumference (MUAC) to indicate nutritional status.

The findings will be discussed with planners and policy makers and with focus groups of men and women in the communities later in 2011. For background to the information and planning system, click here.
