Substance Abuse
Three projects in Canada in 1995 and 1996 have examined risk and resilience of Aboriginal Youth in relation to smoking, alcohol and other substances. An important aspect of these studies was the involvement of the youth themselves in carrying them out. See the theme Youth Involvement in Planning.
The LoPHID project in Canada’s Maritime Provinces in 1998-2000 produced rich data on youth risk taking in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia and on the impact of second-hand smoke on heart health in Nova Scotia.
