Human capital
for evidence-based planning
Wherever CIET is active, capacity building is part of the process. An important capacity-building component of the project is assisting health planners and managers to organise their efforts increasingly in relation to the results they achieve in terms of impact and coverage and help improve local and state government capacity for results-based management of health.
Health planners from state ministries of health and local government departments in Bauchi and Cross River states have attended a course in epidemiology and evidence-based planning with two modules of two weeks each in February and June 2011, a three week module in May 2012 and a one week module in May 2013.

This course is also a key element in the development of an Open and Distance Learning Masters course in Epidemiology geared to the needs of these same state and local government health planners and managers.
