Household visits
As part of the communication strategy for the social audits on maternal and child heath, CIET conducted household visits in 30 communities in focus local government authorities in both Bauchi and Cross River state.
In each state, 30 male and 30 female workers received training in three focus LGAs. Using cell phones to rely information, they registered women of child bearing age and followed more than eight thousand pregnancies in the three focus LGAs. They interact directly and repeatedly with pregnant women and their spouses on what it takes to avoid maternal complications, to prevent and manage childhood illnesses. In late 2012, CIET spread the scope of household visits to include a child health component.
